Application
Yamanoko Childcare Center consists of two different centers: “Yamanoko Childcare Center Home” (0-2 yo, max. of 19 children) with cozy, family-like atmosphere, and “Yamanoko Childcare Center” (0-5 yo, max. of 50 children) where children spend the day at the garden rich in nature and creativity.
We are childcare center (nursery) certified by Cabinet Office, led by Spiber Inc., a private company with business domain in new-generation biomaterial development aiming to pursue the next level of sustainability without dependence on conventional raw materials such as petroleum. Families of partner companies and local families are also welcome to join us.
For both day care and temporary childcare, please apply directly to us, not to the city hall.

Our child education

Everydayis an exploration: daily practice of spontaneous learning and “exploration method”
Washing clothes after playing with mud, cooking miso soup, creating necessary things in life by using materials from daily scenes -children learn as they create. We adults learn together with children, and as partners/friends we aim to design ever-transforming environment by accepting their every little expression as voices to be heard, and developing every “question” that come up in our minds and reflecting to our style of childcare. Also, the class for 3 to 5 year olds practice “circle time”, a daily opportunity for children to share their feelings and thoughts to others.

Multi-age childcare -children growing inspired by one another
Through multi-age environment we aim to increase opportunities for children to see, to follow, and to learn from one another. We believe that being different is natural; having 1-2 year olds and 3-5 year olds spend the day as same class we let children mutually recognise each other and grow together.

Cloth diaper -our way of facing psychological needs and ecology
From 0 year old, children spend the whole day with cloth diaper. We choose cloth diaper because they are soft and comfortable easy for children to put on and off, and to move around with and because they are eco-friendly. We aim to develop five senses from children experiencing the sense of comfort and discomfort, and responding to psychological needs/desire.

Our thoughts on food -taking time and effort to prepare together
At YCC kitchen, we only use ingredients and seasonings that are produced with care such as pesticide-free rice grown by our farmers, and organic vegetables. We also work on farming from soil making, sowing seeds, to harvesting all together with children, offering opportunities to learn about food and nature. Lunch provided is traditional Japanese (Shonai) menu; lightly seasoned, with lots of vegetables.

Not only having children call adults by their first name such as “XX san”, we adults (including staff and parents/guardian) call each other by first name too. By this we build relationship between adults with a diverse background and children to learn from each other and grow from what we learn.

The application period for admission from April begin from September. We accept applications throughout the year as long as there is vacancy. Please contact us for the most updated information on availability.

*According to Tsuruoka City subsidiary aid policy for households with multiple children, subsidy is given for the second child of the families who are either having two of their children attending the same nursery, or one of the multiple children attend one of the listed nurseries. As for the third child, basic childcare fee shall be free of charge (note: both of the two cases apply only to those who are registered as Tsuruoka City residents).
*In cases of special class events or activities, additional “activity fees” may be charged. We shall consult with/report to the parents and guardians before payment takes place.
Cloth diaper laundry
Once the child is finished using diapers (“eco smiley pants!”), this shall not be charged. Each childcare center shall judge whether the child needs to use cloth diaper or not.
Payment method
Basic childcare fee payment is made by account withdrawal via “CODMON” every 20th of the month (if 20th falls on a holiday/weekend, the following day).
*We ask to register your bank account information on MyPage, CODMON app by the end of the month before admission.
*In case of extended childcare or additional purchase, the total amount is confirmed by the end of the month, and shall be withdrawn the following month.
Application for temporary childcare
About temporary childcare
Temporary childcare is available when parents/guardians have the temporary need for childcare in the cases as follows: ceremonial occasions, temporary work schedule, family purposes and when there is need for refreshment. *Only available between the hours that childcare is necessary for the applicant.
